Gas Drilling Debate Heats Up in New York State


Natural Gas Drilling

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced it has extended the public comment period on the draft Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement (SGEIS) governing potential natural gas drilling activities in the Marcellus Shale formation from Nov. 30 to Dec. 31.

NY State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has proposed a draft of new rules concerning this industry in New York State called the dSGEIS. DEC's only NYC Public Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, 7 PM at Stuyvesant High School Auditorium, 345 Chambers St, NY, NY 10282. (Doors open at 6 PM for speaker sign in.)
